RushOut demo review – Russian game dev suddenly pleased

RushOut is a 3D platformer with shooter elements. The full version promises 20 different levels. I’ve already played the demo version for several hours, where there are only three small maps. How did this happen, because the amount of content is minimal?

This GIF is from the game’s page on steam, this level is not in the demo right now.
But you must admit, it looks good)

The first thing that needs to be said is that the game needs to be given a chance and allowed to open up, in the first tens of minutes you will fall, fall and fall again. And the fall is loading from a checkpoint. I played the demo for more than 5 hours and I can say that sections where you could get stuck for 30+ minutes are completed in 2-3, when you understand how this moment works. And it’s fun to run through again and again)

First of three levels in the demo it immediately presents a certain difficulty, but at least it’s passable in one go. Yes, you have to fall often, but little by little you manage to move forward. There are no weapons in your hands and the gameplay is concentrated on precise jumps and controlling the hero, and this is done very well.

The character feels weight and https://gold99casino.co.uk/withdrawal/ inertia, but not excessive like in GTA and RDR, which makes it difficult to control the character; here the player has excellent control over the hero’s movement. The smoothness of the animations and the physicality of the hero are amazing for an indie project made by one person. There is some kind of combination of ragdoll physics and adjustable animations, not euphoric like Rockstar, but it looks and feels very cheerful. Offhand analogues don’t even come to mind, share in the comments, maybe you know?

Physics puzzles in action

As you yourself have noticed, RushOut has very nice graphics and art design. There is such a pleasant minimalism to the eye, while the locations are filled with enough details so as not to distract from movement along the main path and at the same time look stylish.

Second level I was humiliated for too long and too much and what saved me from crashing the game was the “0” button in the demo, it allows you to skip the level. A very wise decision to add such a feature) Later, I still managed to pass it, but the first section with barrels was hate and dislike))) Then everything was much easier.

Third level this is the best thing in the demo, for my taste. An action level where shooter mechanics come to the fore. Just look at what it looks like: twin ultrasounds, slowdown and enemies flying off according to physics, where are these games?

And here is the shooter part, IMHO the best thing in the game

Seriously, I remembered Max Payne at this moment, only there aren’t enough side jumps) It’s so funny that I want to replay it. Seriously, I really want to try the full version, where there will be more action sections, more weapons and some interesting situations. It is already clear that there will be both a pistol and a machine gun, they are found in locations, but are not active yet.

At some point I realized that there is a somersault with simultaneous shooting, there is no special meaning for the gameplay, but it looks very stylish.
